Vigneault can't Shut up, Boston Fires Back

Well no surprise, the dust has settled in Boston after the 4-3 battle royal loss to the Canucks and Alain Vigneault doing what he does best, complaining to the media. This guy is honestly worse than a 16 year old school girl. Boo hoo, every time someone says something about his team or roughs his team up a little, this guy goes immediately goes crying to the media. Brad Marchand got what was coming to him, a 5 game suspension, we all knew it was coming. So Vigneault comes out the day of the hearing to bash the league saying "when" they don't do anything he hopes he is going to get what is coming to him. Man if Torts getting fined for making backdoor comments about the league, why isn't someone throwing this guy one. He pretty much came out and said "whatever you're going to do, won't be the right call." Sounds like a last ditch effort to get a few more games added on to his suspension by calling the NHL out before they make a desision. Well I hope Shanny finally brings the hammer down on this clown so we can finally get him to shut the hell up.
In lighter new the NHL did retract its call against Milan Lucic which got him a game misconduct and ejected from the game. The original call was that Lucic left the bench in a fight which immediately leads to a game misconduct and suspension. Turns out he was just taking part in a routine line change when he decided
to help fellow teammate Thornton from getting jumped in a 6-1 scrum in front of the Canucks bench. Which Vigneault doesn't mention to comment on. So can't wait till they play again this time in Vancouver, should be a good one. Oh and Vigneault what part of practice do you guys practice finger biting? Also since we are in the mix of calling people out for things. Tell me this Vigneault, what is so different from this hit you put on Lucic last year in the playoffs than the one we saw the other night...even the guys calling the game thought that was clipping. So I guess Julien is right, might want to start looking in your own backyard! That was just as dangerous a hit and could have done just as much damage. But since it wasn't one of your precious little Sedins nothing was called.

ITS THE SAME HIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Patrick Elias Plays 1000th Career Game

Patrick Elias was apart of one of the greatest hockey teams when I was growing up. Those Devils during the late 90s were sick. It's great to see such a great hockey player play as long as Elias has. Adding to the night he scored a goal and got two assists, putting icing on the cake. Hats off Patrick.

NHLPA Denies New Realignment

The recent realignment and playoff format that was approved a few months ago by the NHL Board of Governors for the up coming 2012-2013 season has no been put on hold at least for one more year. The NHLPA (National Hockey League Players Association) refuses it's consent on the new plans.

“It is unfortunate that the NHLPA has unreasonably refused to approve a Plan that an overwhelming majority of our Clubs voted to support, and that has received such widespread support from our fans and other members of the hockey community, including Players,” said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. “We have now spent the better part of four weeks attempting to satisfy the NHLPA’s purported concerns with the Plan with no success.
Because we have already been forced to delay, and as a result are already late in beginning the process of preparing next season’s schedule, we have no choice but to abandon our intention to implement the Realignment Plan and modified Playoff Format for next season.”

“We believe the Union acted unreasonably in violation of the League’s rights. We intend to evaluate all of our available legal options and to pursue adequate remedies, as appropriate.”

So basically nothing is going to change for at least one more year. Sad. Was kind of looking forward to the new shake ups.

Sweden Wins Gold at World Juniors

It took overtime to settle this one. Mika Zibanejad scored at 10:09 of the first overtime to give Sweden their second World Juniors gold medal. Mikas teammates later said that he had called the game winning goal on the bench after the third period. "I told (Rotevall) before the overtime, too, so it was good to get that goal," Zibanejad said. "You have to decide if you want to win this. In the morning, it was a joke, but obviously it's not a joke anymore."
But the real story in this game was the play of Andrei Makarov, who made 57 saves and only let one by. Sweden out shot Russia 57-17. Wow and it went to overtime. I can only imagine the pain if they had lost this game. Andrei Makarov deserves a gold medal, just make and extra one christ 57 saves...All the hats off to Makarov.

I had to find the Swedish feed of this..haha..Ya! Ya! Ya!

And in third place news Canada beats Finland 4-0...wooo
Yes, that's what bronze looks like. Don't cry.

Yales O'Neill Scores 4 in a Row

19th ranked Yale found themselves in a 3-3 game on Sunday against Bentley until forward Brian O'Neill scored back to back to back to back goals...making it a 7-3 lead for the Bull Dogs. O'Neill with four goals beat his own personal best of three back on the 12th of February last year. O'Neill normally known for his passing, 9th all time at Yale with 69 assists. When your hot your hot. Bull Dogs went on to win 9-3.

Carcillo Suspended 7 games

Well well looks like Mr. Carcillo is going to be suspended for the second time this year for the same call. Some people never learn. Yesterday Sheriff Shanny brought down the hammer on Dan Carcillo with a 7 game suspension for his illegal hit on Edmontons Tom Gilbert.

here it is....

This is a perfect example of why this is illegal. They are going full speed into the boards, not only did he hurt Gilbert the idiot hurt himself. For those of us not clear on the rules and want to know more of why it was illegal and why he got so many games, here's the Sheriff....

Tortorella fined 30K

Well for those of you who sat around watching the end of the Winter Classic and thought that the penalty
shot with virtually no time remaining was a huge ploy by Gary Bettman and the rest of the NHL to add a little more hype to the game for future Classic's ratings, you weren't the only one. John Tortorella was right there with you. In his post game news conference he was very vocal on how the end of the game was called. Calling out no calls by the refs and then wondering if NBC and the NHL had gotten together there at the end to make that call to make the game more exciting. Alright Tort tell the media what we all were thinking! Unfortunately we the fans can say and think whatever we want, we are not employed in the NHL. So Tortorella got smacked with a 30k fine yesterday for questioning the integrity of the league. Since then he has come out and apologized over and over. But, still fined.

Father Son Beaten at Winter Classic

Shocker, After the Winter Classic in Philly two Ranger fans were beaten into the hospital. A father and son who were just trying to get a cheesesteak at the famous Genos. Well turns out these ass clowns where caught on tape video shown here. Also turns out the man they jumped was a cop and his son. And they caught the guy bragging on facebook.....is it safe to say that town deserves nothing..sorry for the few good apples because that town is mostly rotten. At least they got them.

Rink Side

This will be one of our new segments we call "Rink Side" it will refer to one of the two of us going to a game and giving you our thoughts on the game and outing. Seeing as we live in Raleigh NC, you will be getting a lot of Hurricane talk. Hopefully we get out to see more arenas and teams for now...this will do.

Rink Side episode 1: Islanders vs Hurricanes

Ill start by saying that I am a proud Islanders fan. Ok now to the game. Its nice the Hurricanes are doing so bad so when I get the chance to see my Isles come through town I don't have to shell out a lot of cash to see it. (or any other team for that matter) Today my biggest dilemma was buying a $5 foot-long from subway or buying an extra ticket for my friend to go. Yes you read that right I buy tickets to a pro hockey game, day of the game, for $5 and I don't have to wait for the puck drop in the parking lot with a scalper, that's right off stubhub.com and printed out. Thank you Raleigh NC. Anyways I bought both, tickets and the sub. The sub was the best part of that deal.
Man talk about a terrible hockey game. I figured it out while sitting there watching dump in after dump in and icing after icing, these two teams always play to the level of the team they are playing. I watch of a lot of the both of these teams and yes they have there blow outs but every team does and for the most part these two teams are in a good bit of there games. But neither of these teams are ever the team the other team is trying to match up to (hence all the losses). So matched against one another....it was a nightmare of boring hockey....Two terrible teams playing at their own terrible level. The crowd wasn't even into it. It was probably the quietest hockey game I have ever been to in my life (and I still make it out to the island for some record low attendances). I must have said it 100 times..."why is it so quiet"... I'll tell you why it was because the fans were sleeping until halfway through the third. Thank god for Chad LaRose and Kyle Okposo for both scoring in the final 4 mins. Overtime was exciting though..well for Islander fans because if not for Cam Ward there wasn't going to be a shootout.
So Islanders win, not a particularly proud win but, wins and win. Shout out to my dad who went with me who use to be an Islanders fan and switched after 30 years. Who also sat next to me and was gloating to my mother via cellphone at how mad I looked when LaRose scored with 4 mins left but before he could hang up Okposo ties and...you know the rest....

I will leave you with his final words "I live on Long Island 30 years the Isles go to shit, I move to Raleigh and the Hurricanes go to shit I can't win"

Strong Island!

Winter Classic

NHL wins again! This years Winter Classic was great. You can really see how far we have come as far as putting this thing together and if you were like me and my counter part and watched all the previous Winter Classics over the past couple of days, it really stood out. Right out of the gates it was non stop fast pace hockey up and down the ice. All the ooooh's and ahhhh's you could handle. So hats off for the guys perfecting this technology because each year you can tell they are better at keeping that ice up to snuff and keeping the hockey fast.

Well at least now I know people are reading my blog because apparently Mike Rupp didn't take to kindly to all that praise I was giving Sean Avery. Holy Rupp where did he come from. Rupp scored his second and third of the year shutting me right up. Not the normal Winter Classic Mike Rupp I'm use to seeing. Let me see if I can find the Winter Rupp I'm use too. There he is, beating in John Erskines face in last years Winter Classic. I was literally trash talking this man as the game was being played. Even after he scored his first goal and the stats pop up saying that was only his second of the season. I was like, Avery has twice as many goals as this smuck! Then he scored again and I decided to sit down and get pelted with all the laughs from my Ranger loving friends (sigh). So cheers to you Rupp, I'll sit on it.
So with the pros there are cons. While yesterdays game was great, there is still some room for improvement with the camera shot selection departement. While it has gotten 95% better....ehhhh.. I'm pretty sure while one of Rupps goals was sliding across the goal line, me and the rest of everyone no at the game had a real good close up on Rupps face. I mean I knew something had happen because we saw Rupp yell, which panned over to a still puck sitting in net......way to go NBC..you are almost there. On a better note, for all of those watching the game yesterday who did not know what a "shot on goal" was, NBCsports was all over it giving you the breakdown. "By rule, a shot on goal is a shot stopped by the goalie, where if the goalie was not there, would have gone in the net for a goal"......thank you NBCsports I may now rest in peace.

Ill leave you with the best hockey commercials from the game vote which one was the best.

while this one is not an NHL commercial...We couldn't stop laughing

Happy New Year!
